On May 20, 2014, the 2013 China Electric Power Science and Technology Award ceremony was held in Beijing, and the "± 800KV Ultra High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Technology Development, Equipment Research and Engineering Application" project led by Southern Power Grid Corporation won the first prize.
Without any experience to learn from, Southern Power Grid Corporation vigorously promoted independent innovation. Since 2003, it has been conducting research and development, collaborating with more than 30 domestic research institutes, universities, design, manufacturing and other units. After more than ten years of technical breakthroughs, it has achieved multiple technological breakthroughs. The worlds first research experiment found a linear relationship between pollution withstand voltage and insulation distance under ultra-high voltage conditions; The proposed double valve balanced series main connection topology structure for ± 800KV DC transmission system has become the basic form of ultra-high voltage DC transmission; For the first time in the world, a ± 800KV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission insulation coordination system has been proposed; Developed the worlds first complete set of ± 800KV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission equipment and achieved industrialization; Established an ultra-high voltage direct current transmission test platform and a national engineering laboratory; For the first time in the world, a comprehensive study has been conducted on the safety, stability, and operational technology of a large-scale AC/DC parallel power grid containing ultra-high voltage DC.
